June 13th 2018, marks 100 years since one of the greatest murder mystery’s, and all of this happened in Oxford’s twin city of Perm. 100 years ago, the last Tsar of Russia, Grand Duke Michael Romanov, was assassinated, but his body has never been found. The Two Lives Of Grand Duke Michael novel, combines fact and fiction to tell an alternate story to what may have happened to Grand Duke Michael Romanov after his assassination, and it could become the next hit TV period drama!

On June 13, 1918, a Bolshevik hit squad kidnapped Grand Duke Michael Romanov from his hotel in the city and murdered him. This is what inspired The Two Lives Of Grand Duke Michael, as his body has never been found and therefore this novel plays on the intriguing premise that he wasn’t actually assassinated after all. Much of the story is based in Oxford’s twin city of Perm, but the second half sees Grand Duke Michael Romanov creating a secret second life in the UK.

Nicholas Jones has been commissioned to adapt the novel to TV, so whether in book or TV form, we hope The Two Lives of Grand Duke Michael will now stimulate wide interest in one member of the family who has definitely not been found.
